The Tumblr Ponysphere has been known to generate its own submemes: patterns that start out with some Tumblr's crazy idea, get picked up by other blogs, and eventually spread like wildfire.
These are different to events in that memes don't generally contain long stories, and do not bring multiple blogs together in co-operative posting.
They form a subset of tropes, a more general term for any concepts and conventions that reappear throughout Tumblrpon and the MLP community.
